Our Horizons Team, here at Barking Dagenham College, have an exciting opportunities for a Pastoral Specialist, .

You will join us on a full-time, term-time only basis, 36 hours per week, 38 weeks per year. In return, we will offer a competitive salary of £26,887 to £28,344 per annum including London Weighting (this has been pro-rata'd)

The Pastoral Specialist role:

To work as a member of the Horizons Specialist Provision within the SEN Foundation Learning Department, to raise the learning and attainment of students with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities of our Pastoral Specialist:

  • Promote and nurture student independence, self- esteem and social inclusion.
  • Lead on Safeguarding within Horizons & Horizons Specialist Provision.
  • Support vulnerable and disengaged learners, including working with internal and external partners. where necessary to support learners with complex needs with their learning journey.
  • To communicate effectively with parents, students, staff and colleagues and promote the wellbeing and safeguarding of all.
  • To assess and record support plans and learner data for all learners who require strategies to manage their well-beingn and contribute to EHCP annual reviews.

Our ideal ROLE should have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Level 2 English qualification or equivalent (E)
  • Level 2 Math’s qualification or equivalent (D)
  • Training in the field of SEND
  •  Understanding of Complex Needs and how learning is developed and impacted (E)
  • Experience of delivering effective student support programs to promote positive behaviour (D)
